It is impossible--until we imagine it
imagination as act of freedom
Lee Miller, in Hitlers bathtub, his villa in ruins, 1945. after the violent end of the 1000 Year Reich. Note Hitler’s picture on the ledge. Her boots in front, boots that she wore across Europe with the American Army.
The grandiose plans of the Reich were now in ruins. There were years and decades when it was impossible for many to think—to imagine—to believe—that it would ever end. The victories and capitulations were many, the plans grandiose, the public spectacle’s huge and emotional. True believers were many—and celebrated. Doubt was not tolerated. The media of the day, especially the new power of radio broadcast, were seized and controlled by the Nazi regime.
Sound familiar ?
Heres a link to the fabulous, opulent, Mar a Lago resort, the Florida home base of—you know. A few pics selected for easy viewing.

Imagine with me that in time, there will be open public tours and new uses of Mar A Lago, that the men and women and people of all genders and beliefs now demonized — will wander through the faded opulence and ask—why?—and how?—how did so many so long think this was the desired life, the way to live? How did so many accept and cheer and admire what was spawned here as the fate of the nation, that certain people mattered and others were less than human.
Maybe some will bath in one of the marble tubs?
Maybe someone who was sent to this
—to Alligator Alcatraz
From the Guardian
The notorious new “Alligator Alcatraz” immigration jail in the Florida Everglades contains hundreds of detainees with no criminal records or charges, it was disclosed on Sunday, as lawmakers decried “inhumane” conditions inside after touring the facility.
Donald Trump has insisted that the remote camp in swamp land populated by pythons and alligators was reserved for immigrants who were “deranged psychopaths” and “some of the most vicious people on the planet” awaiting deportation.
But at least one detainee shouted out to politicians during Saturday’s visit that he was a US citizen, the Democratic Florida congressman Maxwell Frost said. And the Miami Herald obtained and published a list of 700 people held in cages showing that at least 250 had committed no offense other than a civil immigration violation.

and from Alligator Alcatraz
I know that someday—maybe not in my lifetime—but someday for certain—some of those now locked illegally in this abomination will tour Mar A Lago as free persons, will stare at the faded and tasteless opulence —will ask why? and what happened? Will celebrate their freedom.
This regime will end—and all those reading this —that’s you—will help end it.
Imagine—families of all kinds , people once detained, deported, denied their humanity—dining freely in the once exclusive opulence.
Imagine it——it is possible—picture it.
Nothing is forever—and imagination is act of creation and rebellion—
Imagine—on the grounds of once gated estates (especially one) —where persons of color were the servants and gardeners—were the super rich gather their exclusive tribe—imagine——families daily and routinely enjoying the lawns and fountains—imagine!
This is possible.
No one in Germany in 1942 or 43 or 44—could have imagined a journalist bathing in Hitlers tub. But she did.
Imagine It
We Are free—to change the world—imagine it —and act, march, speak, support, build community.
Do not let fear make us doubt what we know—what we can see, what we envision. .
I keep this book close.

I'd never seen the Lee Miller photo before! What a powerful message. And the contrasting pics of the current palace and who will be using it a future day are spot on. Our imaginations know no bounds.
David you're a great man and friend. Keep writing and inspiring
