Dearest David, For me divorce after 26 years was a second, painful reminder to adhere to an integrated philosophy I internalized after some ill-advised attempts to die by suicide in my teens. My commitment to existentialism coupled with Korzybski’s admonitions that the map is not the territory and the word is not the thing. Having said that, I share your concerns. I made a choice to attach meaning to art for 50 years.
The abstractions conservatives have discussed in theory for generations are now assuming a solid map—a map they clearly plan to follow— which we ignore to our peril. Their map cannot be the territory. Their wrods cannot be the thing. You see a much clearer path than I do at the moment. Thanks for making me think as I sit here gazing at the ocean.
Brave sharing—I’m with you—was it Ram Dass who said “we are all here to walk each other home..” whoever—i like it.
Big YES—to we cannot deny, ignore, choose not to see what MAGA promises.
Be well—take care
David you are definitely an amazing person. I'm blessed for our paths to have crossed. I can only hope to listen and learn from you. Thank you!
